DK Photo Group - anamnesis

The DK Photo Group's Fourth Group Show - anamnesis

anamnesis (noun, plural): the recollection or remembrance of the past; reminiscence.

The fourth DK Photo Group show is anamnesis at galleryDK. A factory once alive with the force of industry, now stagnant and collapsing under the weight history. A piano once alive with expressions of creativity, now in quiet solitude. Two very different images connected at the point where memory and history collide. Images of past lives in past places that have been passed by. This is the embodiment of the DK Photo Group. This exhibition marks the grand opening of galleryDK, Toronto's newest photography gallery.

Dare to go beyond the sign... explore with us. Some of our other shows include:

Forgotten during Contact 2006 @ Steamwhistle Brewery

Orphaned at the Hang Man Gallery

DKonstruction during Contact 2007 @ art101

The DKPG is Toronto's pre-eminent photographic collective, exploring the theme of urban history and architectural memory. Comprised of five established photographic artists - Russell Brohier, Sean Galbraith, Laurin Jeffrey, Steve Jacobs and Mat Merrett - the DKPG explore those spaces and places cast off by the community in hopes that their work will give a greater understanding of our relationship with the built form and the past lives therein.

Last year, the group collectively decided to be in control of their own fate, thus they opened galleryDK and will be mounting their third Contact show "anamnesis" in May of 2008.
